Here after three days of 95-96 F temps (36 C), with heat indexes between 105-111 F (41-44 C) and a new all-time record high dewpoint for the Twin Cities of 82 F/28 C, that's how hideously humid it was. Well, it's hard to come up with things to 'gush' about. Here's what I've got...
It was fun getting to see this blimp flying in circles over downtown St Paul on Monday. I wonder how much worker productivity went down...we were glued to the windows every time it went by!
Because of the horrid heat wave, I stocked up on ingredients in advance, and treated myself to homemade strawberry-banana smoothies each night--cold and delicious!
Tuesday was the day that set the record for humidity, all because of a storm that came through with torrential rains aimed squarely at the metro area. Well, a surprise when I come trudging home through that crap to find the building caretaker standing outside waiting for me--THAT's how bad the flooding was that day. (swept my entire workroom save my clothes closet) But oddly enough, a bad flood can be a 'good' flood because the poor guy has hit his limit and is forcing the owner of the building to get a professional to look at things. He's done everything he could, and it obviously isn't enough--not in an insane summer like this!
And I'm glad it did not rain on Wednesday, since the only place I could hang my big new throw rug out to dry is on my railing. It's dry now, thank God, but I'm not unrolling it until this next set of stormy days passes, or I'm around to fight the flooding myself.
