Weekend joys:

My itsy bitsy garden has felt like a tragedy this summer, because even though it faces due south, my deck doesn't get as much sunlight as I expected. But while slow, the plants have all been growing, and despite my full expectations to the contrary, I actually got a couple blue morning glory blooms! In July! On puny runty far-from-luxuriant plants! My lantana, purslane, petunias and evovulus aren't doing bad at all either.

On Saturday I went to the movie theater and got a free small birthday popcorn that I upgraded to medium for a dollar, thanks to my member card there. Quite a treat! And War for the Planet of the Apes was fabulous. I'm really looking forward to a boxed set of the entire trilogy. Can't forget to mention the blessing of parking under my beloved hackberry tree--made even more precious because that was when the AC on my car broke, at 90 degrees with 72 degree dew point.

Saturday evening I finished pass 5 of my third Geren book. Super excited to have pass 6 underway about half a month ahead of my schedule.

Blessed by timing. The AC going out on poor Cerulean, after all the other things that have broken/are breaking lately, is the sign I need to say goodbye to my 17-year-old 'baby' pretty soon. But I'd already arranged with the Towners to borrow their minivan while they are both in Alaska for about two weeks.

One reason I'd wanted to borrow the minivan was for chair shopping, since there's no way I can fit furniture in my tiny car. To my delight, my first choice up for sale on Craigslist was still available and I was able to pick it up on Sunday. Now I have a nice green wingback chair in my bedroom for my devotional times!

And today makes 24 years and 5 months since I first 'met' t'DoL. I've a month countdown written on my mermaid pillow--7 months left to 25 years!!

I have been meaning to ask you about your garden. At least it is not a total loss. It is so hard to get the right conditions.

Yes, the first year at a new place is always a bit of a guess. At least now I know that it should be good for growing lobelia next year! I didn't get any because I thought there might be too much sun.
