Monday draws to a close...

Something Joe said while he was driving me home from the airport has been on my mind, as I was telling him about our fun on our San Diego trip. He remarked on how neat it was that my mom and I had such an overlap of interests we could go on vacations together and find many things we enjoyed doing together. He had a good point! Thank you, God, for that blessing! And a blessing it is, to have someone to take trips with who enjoys animals and waterfalls and mountain lakes and birds and flowers and gardens and sweeping vistas and cute shops, even the 'Grinch' on stage...this could get long! But I had to thank God here and put my acknowledgment of that great blessing down in words.

Back to work today, and it went better than it could have. Been sleeping badly due to my cold, so getting up at 5:30 am/3:30 am California time wasn't near as brutal as I was fearing.

My coworkers much enjoyed the Danish cookies from Solvang I brought them, and I'd have gushed more about the town itself if my throat wasn't troubling me...perhaps they should be grateful!

Also, my boss was quite taken with the rock I picked up for her off the beach in Santa Barbara. I should have taken a picture of it, the shape was so unique. I'm glad she liked it, and I'm glad for a 'gift' of sorts in return. She told me she'd been woken late one night (she couldn't remember which) and felt that she was supposed to pray for my safe travel. I can't help wondering if that wasn't the evening driving back to Sacramento when I stupidly chose highway 152 as my route to get from Monterey across the Santa Cruz mountains and Diablo Range to Interstate 5. I won't be forgetting that drive anytime soon! Thank you, God, for your protection, whichever evening it was.
