Anyway, I found her Elfwood page some time ago, and when they revamped the site so that I could add 'Favorites' for art, in my scavenging about, I found it again. She makes wonderful gryphon plushies from her own pattern, and I fell head over heels for a raven-like black one. Yum, yum, yum how I wanted him! Didn't think it would ever happen, however.
But life can be very strange and blessed and the world can seem very small at times. Back in the beginning of February I was doing my Friday ritual of going through my eBay searches, and decided to run the gryphon/griffon one again, though I don't check it every week because it's so much work to sort through all the brands to actually get at what I want--the mythical creature. And what should I find but an auction for a plushie commission! And who should it be by...this very same artist! Once I figured that out, there was no hesitating; I just had to bid and ask for a black black utterly black gryphon with pale 'Black Prince' yellow eyes quite like the one I'd fallen in love with on Elfwood.
She was just great at keeping in touch with me each step of the way, and letting me see photos as she got near completetion, in case there was anything I wanted changed. So a week or so ago it was finished, and yesterday it arrived. In a great big box that UPS was wonderful enough to put in a bag, since it was raining most of the day.
I simply love the work she put into the forefeet and the talons in particular, and how lifelike the eyes are, and the long fur for a 'crest' on his head.

Cats being cats, of course Arun liked the box more!
just to be fair, here's one of Shado slinking about
I shall restrain myself from naming him either Skandranon (Mercedes Lackey's arrogant black gryphon through whom I fell in love with black gryphons) or the Black Prince *ducks*. He's a wonderful size for hugging and I am so impressed with all the work she put into it. The wings can be lifted up, too!
So there's my treat of yesterday. For tonight, very happy to get rolling with 'Great Wave' writing again!
