A treat in my inbox when I got up--birthday gift from my parents of an Amazon gift certificate! That was a nice way to start the day, especially after a nasty night.
Beautiful views on my flight to Chicago--baby cumulus clouds, and the sight of the Chicago skyline (with the Sears Tower) set against the turquoise and indigo of Lake Michigan. Haven't seen Chicago since 1990--so it's been a while! Also a treat, thanks to my mom, that I got window seats on the non-sunny side for both flights.
Good 'ol Frogmouth, with which I could catch up on my journal, draft this, and pass time reading book 4 during my two-and-a-half hour layover.
A delightful landing at Norfolk with thunderstorms to the north to fly by, and wonderful views of the Chesapeake Bay and the incredible bridge I'd soon be driving on.
The drive up from Norfolk to my Uncle's home was gorgeous. Highlights included spotting an Osprey nest when we stopped at scenic overlook on the bay, seeing Hilda and H again, and Uncle Tony for the first time in a few years, and the hundreds of fireflies while driving the last miles from Onley to his house--it has been so long since I've seen fireflies!
