Thursday was a quieter day:
This was the day my aunt and H left to drive to New York to visit family there. So while we didn't do as much, there were no end of treats just in the area.
Around noon we headed over to a pond quite near my uncle's place. Seems kinda silly to say we set up beach chairs and an umbrella there, but there was a breeze over the water which kept the place refreshing, and an endless parade of seagulls flying in from the ocean to get a drink of water or splash around. Some egrets and geese as well, but the biggest treat was the Osprey that flew off shortly after we got there with a big fish in his claws.
It was also a great place for this beginner to do my first kayaking. My uncle has two of them, so my mom and I went out for a bit. I'd never been in one before, but it's certainly far easier to handle than a canoe! It was a fun place to learn as well thanks to the island in the middle, out of which enraged blackbirds flew to scold me if I paddled too close. Just a treat.
Even though we stayed at my uncle's place the rest of the day, just wandering around outside brought me treats in plenty. Such as a baby rabbit, and then a delightful 25 minutes watching a precious fawn graze on clover (probably the offspring of the crippled doe who spends a lot of time in the area). The time just flew by, the little darling was such a treat to behold.
