So, Saturday I drove over 2.5 hours south (including missing a turn due to construction and almost ending up in La Crosse, Wisconsin, before I could turn around). My destination was a state park called Great River Bluffs that I'd been hankering to visit in the autumn since 2008. Got there and promptly got sick. Sooo, didn't get near as much walking done as hoped, and the color was a let-down as well. But I did have a wonderful drive down--I just love the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi from Prescott to Nelson, and the Minnesota side from Red Wing to the bottom of the state, not that I got that far! Color was definitely past peak, but I did upload a couple photos--the bottom row here. And it's always nice to get well away from the cities for a bit. =)
Sunday my outing was smack in the city--finally went to see the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the Science Museum in downtown St Paul (only posted about it here in January, and it's been going since March, ahem). I wanted to take advantage of free parking meters on Sunday. It was neat. The exhibit was incredible, and there's no way I could do it justice here. Just completely impressive and worth every dollar. And it was a treat to finally visit the 'new' Science Museum building (opened in 1999, ahem). Neat to see old stuff and lots of new stuff there, since it feels like I spent half my childhood in that place (and just loved it) when I wasn't at the zoo. ;)
Finally got done remaking t'DoL's clothes! Which is good, since my art side is starting to go nuts (or more nuts) and now file recreation won't be taking up so much of my non-writing time for a bit.
Yes, and a whole lot more affordable than the annual State Park pass in California, that's for sure! I was telling Christi about the price and she was amazed.
The color really wasn't great at all around where I live this year.
