This is a post just celebrating the wonderful birthday I had last week, and the kindness of the people who made it so. *hugs*
Getting treated out by my mom to breakfast the morning after at the exquisite dining hall in the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite was quite a delight--my meal was fabulous!
My cousin Diane sent me a bunch of trail mix packages (which I enjoyed on my Florida trip) and though it got to my parents' house a day late for me to actually take it along--it's the thought that counts, right? =)
It wasn't quite birthday-related, but stopping by a Jamba Juice in the little adorable town of Oakhurst on our way to Yosemite after I'd been craving a smoothie for a couple weeks was quite a treat. (And Cindy gave me money toward the next time I have a craving...)
My delightful coworker Dawn, who e-mailed me for my birthday even though I might not have e-mail reception...and then she left a message on my home phone for me to find when I got back, and regretted she couldn't leave it at 6:22 pm 6-22. She's so priceless!
Can't forget my dad serenading me on my cell phone, as I didn't have reception much those days. I'm saving that message! And my boss did a written one by e-mail for me to find when I got back to work.
Yes, and though my dad and sister-in-law were a day early in their birthday wishes, at least my brother wasn't confused! ;D
Already gushed about the wonderful package my aunt sent me in advance, but it deserves another mention, since I'm still enjoying the blueberry preserves, granola, spanish candy, and need to remember to thaw out the remaining hamantashen...
Can't leave out the wonderful, insanely rich chocolate cake my brother and sister-in-law got for me after I got back from Yosemite. And all the fun I'm going to have with the gift cards I got...
Of course what made it most memorable was getting to celebrate it in the beauty of Yosemite valley, with visits to Yosemite, Vernal, and Bridalveil Falls, and then wrapping up the day with a star-watching session on Glacier Point. It's been too many years since I've seen the Milky Way so clearly--what a gift in itself!
So even though it wasn't a 'big year' in any way, and I wasn't expecting to do much in that regard, it certainly ended up being very special and memorable. Thanks again to all who had a part!
