The fun of various modes of travel--getting to the city by train, walking through the city, getting from the museum campus to Navy Pier by water taxi, and then taking the city bus to get back to the train station.
The beautiful sights in Millennium Park. Loved the huge Cloud Gate ('bean') sculpture, and the Buckingham Fountain in particular, as well as the city skyline.
Most of Saturday was spent at the Shedd Aquarium, and it was incredible. All sorts of strange and amazing creatures I'd never seen before, like garden eels and four-eyed fish, blue blubber jellyfish, Pacific White-sided Dolphins, Dragon Moray Eel, Warty Frogfish, and the really unique Mata mata turtle.
In the evening went to the Navy Pier, took a ride on the 150 foot/46 m Ferris wheel, enjoyed the view of the Chicago skyline lighting up at twilight, and had a blast at the Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows, which had a bunch of incredibly gorgeous Tiffanys.
And today we're off to the State Fair!
