Sunday after church, I treated my mom to the brunch buffet at Boca Chica, and it was delicious. A treat to have some warm rice pudding with the desserts as well--yum!
Later that day, we checked out a new (to me) apple orchard so my mom could get some Zestar apples, then took a walk at Afton State Park. It was mostly cloudy and quite cool, delicious autumn feel to the air.
That evening, my mom gave my cats the leftover bits of tuna fish from her making sandwiches, and Shado ditched me for a little tuna and slept with my mom on the futon that night! (Part of it was that it was too cool to be comfortable on an air mattress that night, but it's funnier to say he disowned me for a little tuna! ;)
On Monday we headed down south toward the Wabasha area. The super cool night meant there was gorgeous fog rising from the river in places, made for a lovely drive in the morning hours. Couldn't have asked for better weather--it only got up to 68 or so (20 C)!
Visited the Pepin Heights apple orchard store twice, and a good thing too, as they sold out of the SweeTango apples before the day's end, and we got some delicious fresh-cooked apple pie on our way back home. (And stopped at Jamba Juice for smoothies too!)
Most of the day was spent at Whitewater State Park, where we walked a few trails and had a picnic lunch, but we also stopped by Lark Toys in Kellogg that my coworker Dawn had recommended to me. I got me some Key Lime Pie fudge, yum! The carousel was really neat and the toy store wonderfully extensive.
Today it's back to work, and NO DRIVING, yay!
