Despite today bringing the third record-setting or record-tying hot day in a week, I had a pretty nice weekend:
It was nice to have a more relaxed Saturday with no destinations beyond church and food shopping. Watched some 'Smallville' episodes, caught up with different things, and made lots of progress with my 'Wildfire' illustration. Also managed a little writing in 'Tutelage' and some more hashing out of the outline/overall structure, so hopefully it will behave better in the future.
Sunday was great. Since it was way too warm for me to enjoy any prolonged walking, and since the forecast had been for cloudy with showers (so it was sunny and hotter instead!) I decided to visit the 45th Annual Fall Festival of the Arts in Red Wing that I'd recently heard about. It was nice, as Red Wing is a city I tend to drive right through or only stop at for gas on my way further south. As the festival didn't start until 10, I got there early, found a good parking spot, and fulfilled a small dream by climbing to the top of Barn Bluff that overlooks the city. Really beautiful walk, if too warm for me already. The autumn color wasn't as great as it could have been, thanks to strong winds a few days back, but there were many places that were gorgeous. Then had some fun wandering around all the vendors stands wishing I had a lot more money (and wall space in my apartment!). Delightful and inspiring to see so many talented photographers, jewelers, potters, and a plethora of other mediums on display.
(And for those interested, added a few more photos to my autumn 2011 gallery.)
