On my way back from Duluth a week ago, I got windshield damage from a rock hitting my car just a few miles from home. Contacted the insurance company on Tuesday, and everything is so slick and internet/e-mail tied in--it was great. I was able to set up an at-home repair appointment time with the glass repair company that works with the insurance for Saturday morning, and everything went wonderfully. All fixed, and best of all, didn't have to pay a cent! (And I got to commiserate with the repair person about his having to work outside in the heat this awful hot week.)
Also delighted to reach the finish line with editing the first draft of 'White Dragon' and send it off to the author as a Canada Day 'surprise.' I'm very much looking forward to how she polishes it up, and seeing it out in print!
Of course, a nasty heat wave like this makes me very grateful for certain wonderful things in my life: air conditioning in my apartment, air conditioning in my car, air conditioning on the bus, and air conditioning at work! Also delighted with the coolness of emerald soup. I made a batch on Saturday, and since it calls for a clove of garlic, sometime it comes out too strong, and sometimes it comes out too bland...but as Goldilocks would say, this time it came out just right. Delicious!
