My wonderful boss got too many cakes for Mother's Day...so today she brought one into work to share. A 'triple chocolate bundt cake.' Ooooooh, that was so wonderfully decadent!

I'm also cheered by tentative good news with the fire up on the Gunflint Trail. It's just painful to know that land is burning that I saw last year on my vacation, and will likely be seeing again in just over a month's time. There's over 1,000 firefighters up there--I pray things keep going well.

And I am very, very happy to have a return to spring temperatures, especially after yesterday. A couple nice days to savor--and hopefully sleep well in, too!

The cake sounds wonderful. Was there enough for everyone?
Glad to hear the fires situation is improving.

It is hard to think of all the damage being done. I also pray the fires die down.
Glad to hear you got cooler weather. Hope you catch up your sleep.

I assume there was for those that wanted pieces, since there was still some left at the end of the day, and I took a second slice. =)

It's wonderfully cool out now--40's! I have a very nice night of sleep.

There seem to be a lot of fires lately--though some fires are nature's way of wiping the slate to allow new life. I hope it is still an enjoyable experience when you go again in a month!

And I am with you on the spring temperatures thing! It was definitely getting too hot too soon. It's been nice now that spring has decided to stomp its feet and say, "No, Summer! It's still my turn!"

I hope those poor people can go back to their homes soon. (Those that still have them). There were some incredible windstorms in that region a few years back that flattened miles and miles of forest. They worked like mad to haul a lot of the wood out, but there are still areas like a tinderbox waiting to happen. *shudders* It really is something to drive through the ruins of those forests and try to imagine the force of that wind.

Yes! Hurrah for spring putting up a fight! =)
