Two days ago, I trashed my lower back, but at least it is not quite as bad as two years ago, and the vertigo fun. It is a slow painful struggle to get myself out of my car seat, but at least I can drive. I am moving at a third or fourth of my usual speed because stairs hurt, and kneeling tasks like cleaning litterpans, plugging things in, picking up an empty food bowl, and so forth, are very painful (as is putting on socks and pants and getting off the toilet!)...but at least I still have an appetite, I can manage a shower, eat, AND keep my food down. And I can read!
I am also glad it's been eight years or even more since I damaged my back this badly...hopefully another 8 years before next time, right? ;)
Yesterday was the long-awaited free Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert for my department and the family/friends they brought along. My boss met up with me at work beforehand, since I'd gone in for a couple hours, and we walked over together (can't beat $2 parking as my car was there 10 hours!). Neat to see my boss' boss there as well, and the concert itself was amazing. The light show and pyrotechnics--wow! Hu-Harek would have been beside herself, and it was fun imagining how much of a blast she'd have had with it all. Just a great outing! (Now I really want a burning pendulum clock, but where would I put it?!)
I'm very grateful that New Year's Day is on Tuesday and I get it off. My last 'reprieve' before I force myself into 60+ hour workweeks from now until March. Hopefully I can do a little healing up as well!
