Recent treats:

Some literal treats of late. Thursday night was dinner with the Towners--pizza! Always a favorite of mine. The weather was ghastly, so my 'guardian angel' had a workout getting me home, between icy curves and a pair of deer running out in front of me on Glen Road. Thankfully, I got safely home.

Then another treat Friday. The downtown Macy's is closing, so my coworker Dawn wanted to get to the River Room one last time before it's gone (apparently it's been around since 1947). I went with her and her boyfriend Mark and we had a great late lunch (because it was an hour wait the first time we walked over!). Delicious popovers and a butternut squash pasta dish. It was great.

Aside from the food, this year has stunk so far on so many levels, that it is a refreshing treat to find any reprieve. This one--my first fiction read for 2013 was superb. Nice to have something go wonderfully!

Didn't quite make 60 hours, mostly due to the fact that I had to stop at the post office today and it doesn't open until 9. But I worked from 9:30 to 6:30 and got myself to 59 hours for the workweek. I'll have to admit what I love about Saturdays is no interruptions or people wanting my help, and I can bring lots of cds and play music all day--today was soundtrack day for The Hobbit and all three LOTR movies. Quite grateful for the generous gift card that permitted me to get the 'Special Edition' soundtrack!

Very thankful to hear that you got home safely on Thursday night.

That is sad with Macys closing.

Yes, there was a lot of Providence at work that night!

Indeed. Lots of people appear like they're going to miss the restaurant, from the columns I found online. I preferred it when it was Daytons.
