Saturday was quite windy, but overall it was nice to have such a cool, lovely weekend with sunlight and budding trees. On Saturday I got out to the State Fairgrounds and bought nearly all the plants I needed for my garden at the Friends School Plant Sale. Sunday was great for planting, and it is nice to have the majority of it done. Just have to wait on some seeds sprouting and find one last item, yay!
Last Monday I set up the extension I'd bought for the outdoor cat enclosure, but I wasn't sure in subsequent days if Shado liked it very much--he seemed a bit nervous as to how exposed he was in that extra length, and the cooler, cloudier weather did not entice him either. So it was nice to find out this weekend that he does have a use for it--particularly from around 12 - 2:30 when the extension means there's sunlight on the end of the cat enclosure while his hammock in the cat room is still in the shade. He also had fun keeping me company in the enclosure while I was planting.
Sunday morning I headed over to the regional park I haven't been to in quite a while. It was wonderful, because the place was full of migrating birds. In just the first five minutes I saw an oriole, Rose-Breasted Grosbeak, and an American Redstart! Also got to hear my first catbird and house wren songs of the season, and spotted lots of warblers. The usual yellow-rumped variety and other hard-to-distinguish types were common, but I did get the treat of spotting one Black-and-White warbler and my second time ever seeing a (blue) Cerulean warbler. Lovely time.
Some very nice progress with 'TFE' as well. I'm glad to be past the part where the Shado goes around eating people all the time ;) and though it's not done with its bad deeds yet, at least t'DoL finally knows what's happening and is out to spoil its fun. That makes for much more pleasant writing!
