The weather has been largely ill-behaved of late, but I have gotten to get out to enjoy the height of spring a few times regardless. Thursday was so nice after work (and I was able to sneak out at 4:30, my 'scheduled' quitting time) that I got off at the park and ride and took a roundabout way home. And on Sunday, despite the rain threatening nearly all day long, it stayed cool and cloudy when it wasn't raining, so I had the unusual treat of getting out for a 5.5 mile evening walk. I stuffed my face in nearly every lilac bush I passed (perpetually lilac-deprived since my parents moved away), and I got to enjoy the first Tatarian honeysuckle blooms (weeks late), and was delighted to spot some Siberian peatree on my walk as well. The yellow rockets are blooming too, which feels just a little jarring, since they're about on time, while everything else is late.
Saturday I did some walking too, just a little over 3 miles between going to the movie theater and coming back. I went to see Star Trek: Into Darkness but what I was taken by was the trailer and particularly the trailer music for Man of Steel. Delighted that I could find a place to download it and listen to it 85 times over the past two days...or until I can buy the soundtrack, that is.
Despite all the ghastly rain and non-existent sunlight, my dahlia tuber is sprouting, and it did not rot, yay!
A good bit of progress with 'TFE' this weekend, if not quite on the word count side of things. t'DoL and I had a difference of opinion partway through chapter 11, which I wrote a week or so ago. Of course he was right and I was wrong, but it meant I had to spend a bit of time this weekend ripping chunks out of the chapter and shifting the balance. It might still need more work, but at least the worst is behind revision-wise, chapter 12 is finally complete, and 13 is now underway.
It will be nice to have a four-day workweek and another three-day weekend coming up. I'll be paying for it the rest of the month with six-day workweeks, most likely, so I'd best enjoy my reprieve now!
What dry weather? They've got rain in the forecast until Sunday, though maybe there'll be some actual sunlight on Friday. At least we haven't gotten as much as they say, overall.
Looks like you're going to be roasting soon. =(
