The high point of the weekend was getting out to a local 'Junk Market' Saturday morning, where I got a few things for my home and guest room, including a neat autumn wreath.
One thing I really love about this time of year is all the fresh local produce. This weekend I enjoyed spinach, green beans, broccoli, and new potatoes, all thanks to the downtown Farmer's Market.
Some lovely cool mornings in the upper 50s, so on Sunday I got out for a 5 mile walk. Got to see the very same kingfisher perched on the same branch as last weekend (but this time he didn't fly away and let me gawk) and also a pair of deer. The fawn went bouncing off, but the mother stood her ground and let me walk by only 30 feet away. That was a treat!
Been helping out with the church garden, mostly weeding, but Sunday I got to pick eggplant and okra. It's neat getting to learn along with the work--never seen okra plants before, or their neat flowers, or imagined how many bags of huge heavy eggplants could come from something like a 12 x 3 plot of land. Best of all, they're now off to a local food bank for people who can't afford healthy organic fresh produce. I so love that my church does this! =D
