Timing, blessings, parables...
Fun timing this week, with 20 and 3/4th years since meeting t'DoL coming on Sunday, my finishing 'TFE' happening Monday, and t'DoL's birthday falling on Wednesday. No time to really celebrate anything properly, alas, but the closeness of all three dates was a treat.
I've been alternating at work between focusing on the back-end and front-end projects. When I'm doing front-end, since I'm at a rather tedious, repetitive stage of the setup, I have been having a blast listening to the 3 cds I got with my service anniversary gift certificate. So glad for that!
A 'parable' resonance in my life these last few days. I've felt an affinity for the ruler in Luke 14:16, due to some who should value Romans 12:15 and don't. So instead, out to a forum to spread the news, and off to get treats to share with my department, so they can join with me in celebrating/acknowledging my great accomplishment. I am glad some people get it, or at least have manners!
It will be strange not having Thanksgiving with the Towners this year for the first time in many years, so it was a treat to also get some pie when I had dinner with them, and know I'll see them again right after I get back.
This week has been very draining, between the long work hours/short sleep hours and trying to cram in both finishing a novel and big art project under the wire, and it has been increasingly depressing, because each day I fall further behind with where I want to be at with work stuff, and dread how much more time I'll lose with my vacation. All that is to say...who cares about another unproductive hour when Willie's retirement brings a PIZZA PARTY TO CELEBRATE! Today's the informal celebration of his great milestone, and tomorrow is the formal one. I'd love to take his place...
HEY!! Wow!! A big week indeed!! =)
I feel like I'm starting to come out of a fog and have been one of those who have "forgotten my manners" in the process. (So sorry. Really. My brain just seems to be not fully recovered from this past year yet, and I'm not keeping track of things as well as I should).
I'm so excited for you and, selfishly, for me... Does this mean I get some new reading material by one of my very favorite authors soon???
I'm amazed by all that you are accomplishing! Seriously!! How do you do it all?
And a belated Happy Birthday to t'DoL!! =) I remembered to call my favorite brother on t'DoL's bday, but not my favorite sister-in-law! ;)
Love you and can't wait to get some time with you (and, ahem, your new novel =))!
Thank you! =)
Probably not 'soon' because I won't have much time for editing, so I expect it will proceed slowly.
Only by the grace of God, believe me! And knowing it won't last forever helps. But I am really glad for the timing of this trip because the workload is taking a toll on my body.
God willing, see you soon!
