It's been a very rough week--on Monday I found out my former coworker Shelley died (a year and a few weeks after her husband Rich's death), and yesterday I learned that my sister-in-law's mom has been diagnosed at a very bad stage of invasive epithelial ovarian cancer. But there HAVE been good things this week too, and in a more normal time I'd have gotten very excited about them...
Finished the short story 'Fritillary' on Monday evening, so my first Triune-specific story is finally done, though it needs a LOT of editing. Also glad I don't have happy stories at the top of my list anymore, since I'm not up for that now.
So the couple thousand dollars in donations I scrounged up were overall only an itty bitty teenie weenie tiny miniscule part of the Hobby Lobby/Conestoga win at the Supreme Court, but had I heard the news any other week, I'd have been dancing on the ceiling to the Hallelujah Chorus for a day or two. So relieved, even if I can't manufacture any ecstatic delight. (Actually, I manufactured a Triune plot bunny instead, which is also good.)
On Wednesday morning I glimpsed a female hummingbird in the vicinity of the hummingbird feeder I bought at Eureka on my California trip. I accidentally scared her away, but hopefully she'll be back...
I'm very grateful that my boss gave me today off to go to Shelley's funeral (Plum City is slightly under an hour and a half away). Ordinarily this wouldn't be hard as I have tons of vacation time banked up, but days adjacent to a holiday should be requested at the beginning of the year. So glad my boss (and her boss) did everything she could to let as many of us as possible get to the funeral. *big thumbs up*
