On Monday morning I was awakened at 4:20 am by two cardinals having a "battle of music" outside my window, which was open thanks to the cool night. Didn't have much luck getting any more sleep, but wow was it gorgeous!
It was a huge blessing to have this cool streak in the middle of July. Not just because it was nice for sleeping, but because it tricked my body and brain into thinking that autumn (coolness and LIFE!) was coming. The result was a huge rush of energy, particularly creative energy. I've made a massive amount of mental progress on both the beginning of the first Triune novel, and especially the end of the first novel and opening of the second (now that I've given up on it being a duology and begrudgingly shifted to trilogy). Discovered a new character who will have a larger role in the third novel, and made tons of notes as well. It's been fantastic and exhilarating.
Free entertainment has also been abundant. Between writing 'Fritillary,' working on edits for it, and writing notes for the novels, I've had plenty of time to laugh at myself. Because Hilome, the chief hyarmi viewpoint character in the Triune novels (and 'Fritillary') has a name with the same first three letters as Hileko. So, of course when I type 'Hil' my fingers have to be so helpful as to also type 'eko' when I mean to type 'ome' instead! It makes me wonder how many thousands of times I've typed or written 'Hileko' in the past 20 years...
Last and least, glad to have my new air mattress show up earlier than expected, and in good time for the forecasted first heat wave of the summer. Here's hoping THIS ONE lasts more than three weeks!
