Monday night, my aunt and uncle were returning to Florida from a family reunion in New York on my uncle's side of the family. Hilda stopped at a hotel because of an awful headache, and I am grateful beyond expressing that the receptionist understood something was wrong, that she had her own medical history to help her recognize the urgency, and that she took them in her own car to the hospital. If not for that wonderful lady, my aunt might have slipped into a coma that night, or had terrible brain damage from the bleeding in her brain.
What a blessing that it "just so happened" that the hospital that was nearby was Duke in North Carolina, a very good place to be stuck in, if a person must have brain surgery.
Grateful for the Nth time for my cousin Diane, who is a nurse, and dropped everything to head up there and be with her parents yesterday.
The surgery is this afternoon, and I am glad that it was delayed, and that Hilda is lucid and at peace in God's care, and this gives time for her sons to get to the hospital as well.
Thank you God, so much, for your kindness to the best aunt in the world!
