After a number of failed attempts over the past couple years, I finally found a clear answer to a question regarding punctuation in dialogue with non-verbal 'beats.' Of course, now I've got 8 novels and 50+ stories to check and fix, but it will be worth it.
Last Thursday brought a treat in the form of celebrating my coworker Lenore's 10th service anniversary with a lunch (for just the portion of my department on the sixth floor) at a Greek restaurant I haven't been to in many years. It was delicious, and made deeper by memories as well, since the last time I was there was with Kathy and Shelley.
The good part about having to go into work Saturday morning to help Broker-Dealer with their application transition to P8, is that it gave me the perfect excuse to get over to the downtown St Paul weekend Farmer's Market, which is at least 5 times bigger than the one I go to on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I made off with cauliflower, a mix of blueberries and raspberries, and leeks for a new recipe I tried out on Sunday. All quite delicious! (And they had rutabagas! That word just makes me laugh. I really should buy one sometime.)
It has been a treat to get another streak of well-below average temperatures for July, as well as noticing that the days are distinctly getting shorter, even though it's not yet halfway to the equinox. Yay! (And my new air mattress hasn't broken yet, another yay!)
Although I've only put around 170 miles on the exercise bike I got this past January, it has been a real blessing to have it. My goal is to do the 1.4 mile walk to the park and ride lot at least 4 times each workweek, which means I have to make it up on the bike otherwise (and at least double the distance). And since spending a part of a weekday evening on the exercise bike is not high on my list of favorite things to do, it gets me walking when some days I might be inclined to be lazy and cop out. It's also nice to have it on summer weekends when it's too hot for me to go out (anything over 68) or spring weekends when it won't stop raining, or winter weekends when it's all snow and ice. I've started watching episodes of 'Numbers' while I pedal, and that makes it even nicer. Very glad to have it!
Best of all, my aunt is recovering wonderfully after her surgery, though she'll be stuck in the hospital yet, far from home, for a few long tedious weeks to come.
