Some good things for two great people recently:
Sarah Jestin got her second dragon book published! I'm very much looking forward to getting my hands on a paperback copy once it's out in print. It's been a while since I read her early draft, and I know it's going to be fun.
Even more exciting, a wonderful artist I've followed for many years online actually won the Federal Duck Stamp competition on Saturday! She's been having a rough year, so it's a huge delight to see her life turned upside-down in a good way. (Now she gets to go on tour and make speeches, ahhh!) So very, very happy for her and those many years of hard work paying off! (those curious can see her painting here while over here is the official announcment of her win.)
A pretty quiet weekend for me personally. Lots of progress with my illustration for 'Alliance,' a bit of editing progress on the story as well, more work on my Triune lunar calendars, figured out the names of the parents of Night-Wind and her siblings, did some work in my characters database, little things. On Sunday I got out to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum with a stop at the nearby Apple House for SweeTango apples and sweet corn. There isn't that much fall color yet, but I really enjoyed the pizza I got from Pizza Studio at the Mall of America on my way over: whole grain and flax seed crust, basil pesto sauce, shaved parmesan cheese, broccolini, sliced mushrooms, and onions, along with some truffle salt seasoning that ended up being the yummiest thing I've done to a pizza lately. Now if only I could fall in love with a seasoning that is NOT crazy expensive!
