It's been a very rough weekend due to what's going on with Mary, but there are always blessings...
Thursday evening brought a wonder in the mail...the return of $500 (plus some interest) I had tried to give over five years ago, had been lost, and then gotten caught up as part of a class-action lawsuit. What a marvel to get it back finally--and absolutely no coincidence that it showed up the day it did. That meant I could double the amount I had planned to give that afternoon, and have my donation be four figures instead of three. What a blessing!
Happiness is my mother's wonderful fruitcake, which I broke into Thursday night to kick off celebrating my 24th anniversary. Delicious!
A large part of Saturday was spent with Elaine, who was my very first boss back in my high school years. Thanks to both of us showing up around the same time for the Towner's 40th wedding anniversary celebration, we met again after many years. We went out for lunch, ran an errand, took a walk around the neighborhood (the trees are huge compared to 25 years ago!) and had a good time. She's got bird feeders on her deck, so not only did I get to enjoy meeting her cat Max, but also watching an albino squirrel that comes to eat there.
Startled by the blessing of having not one, but two old story-shards get dislodged in my decrepit memory during this month, so that I could get them both added to my 'Obstinate Pests' page. Nothing might come of it, but at least they won't be forgotten anymore.
Today was the big day at my job. I'd been painfully bracing, due to the tough year for my employer, to get no bonus at all...but thank God, it is 4.7%, lowest I've ever had but better than nothing! (2005 - 8%, 2006 - 9%, 2007 - 8.5%, 2008 - 9.5%, 2009 - 5.5%, 2010 - 5.5%, 2011 - 7.5%, 2012 - 9%, 2013 - 10%, 2014 - 9%, 2015 - 9%, 2016 - 6.5%) Also quite absurdly thrilled that they are permitting Company-wide jeans days on Fridays! It was hilarious how folks applauded with more excitement for that announcement than for the PSP number!
Yes, very nice! Some of my coworkers were explaining to me that the company wouldn't want to blow 40+ consecutive years of PSP so we were bound to get something, even if it was 1%!
We went to the Keys in Valley Creek Mall in Woodbury--they had even more of the Peanuts statues up than when David and family were there a year and a half ago.
I'd planned to start it a week earlier but the female curse caused a delay. I certainly did NOT forget about it!
