Blessings large and small:
So grateful that I was able to borrow the Towners minivan for two weeks while they were both in Alaska, since my car is not really fit to drive anymore. That meant I had reliable transportation for my platelet donation and food shopping last weekend, and for assorted errands this weekend. So kind of them!
My boss brought in bagels Friday to celebrate surviving a very rough work week. She accidentally ordered too many, so a bunch of us got to bring some home. That was a treat!
On Saturday, thanks to borrowed wheels, I got out to the movie theater to see War for the Planet of the Apes again. I've read some great essays on the Biblical resonances and picked up right away on Caesar as Moses-figure (as well as the parallel with The Great Escape). But on my second viewing, my strongest association was with I Corinthians 1:26-29. Providence and mercy and the weak/foolish shaming/overcoming the strong. And such an amazing redemption scene--I know I can't watch it in the theater a third time because I won't be able to refrain from weeping every time I see that scene again!
Found the first Brussels sprouts for the summer at the farmers market Saturday. Small but quite delicious!
Best of all, after profound silence from God during the evening worship/prayer service I went to last Wednesday night, what a blessing to get one answer on Friday. That was when I discovered that I'd socked away an extra $700 for editing TSoS that I'd completely forgotten about. (Edited to add: TSoS = The Shado of Sorrow, the third Geren book.) And that was my open door to move ahead with getting sample chapters prepared and contacting my editor this weekend. Just seven chapters left to finish pass 6, and I'll be hearing back from her with a rate quote and dates soon! Eeee!
If you do, make sure you don't watch this one first! At least start with the second movie ('Dawn of the Planet of the Apes') though it would be better to see all three. The second and third are exemplary, in my opinion. Familiarity with San Francisco and the area to the north makes it even more fun. Or you could just wait and I'll loan you the 3-movie special edition with extra features that they had BETTER come out with so I can buy it! ;)
