This first one counts for more than the weekend--it has been such a treat to have a below average August for temperatures! I'm thrilled to think that by the time I get back from my vacation, summer will be winding up.
I've gotten fed up with the laundry at my apartment leaving stains on my clothes, so Saturday morning I took my first ever trip to the local laundromat. A couple blessings--it opens at 6 am, and it's only a mile from my home. Can't forget--no stains either. =)
Got out for a hike at the nearby NWR Sunday morning before church, since I wanted to measure how long it will take to walk there when I'm carless--around 35-40 minutes. I was pleased to see some wildflowers I'm not very acquainted with, but did not stop for photos lest I be carried off by the local mosquitoes. But I'll be back!
Sunday afternoon was special, because I got to get together with the Towners (and Mary's brother and his wife) and see over 1,000 photos they took on their trip to Alaska. The quick version, that is, or I'd still be there! ;)
Only a week to the solar eclipse! Since I was at the post office over lunch today to mail eclipse glasses to my nieces and nephews, I treated myself to some of those eclipse stamps that show the moon when they're warmed up. Really neat!
