Actually, the whole week passed quite speedily, as it felt, and was a good one. But of course I'm glad for a weekend!
This morning gave me the fun of earthworm rescuing on the walk to the bus stop. The big night crawlers in particular. And it was neat seeing the tracks they left in the mud along the edge of the gutters (that are too steep for them to climb). I think I saved three big earthworms almost as long as my forearm. I love those things!
I'm grateful for a break in the storms today--gave me a chance to cram in a bunch of shopping errands tonight, since tomorrow night I may be keeping vigil with the pump again.
I was also amused by the impression I made on those errands. My poor car...the storm last night just plastered it on all sides with elm seeds, and since my car is medium-dark blue, and the elm seeds are light tan, it's not exactly discrete. It's like somebody went crazy with 1,000 seeds, superglue, and a fan! I did lose a couple hundred seeds driving about, but...it reminded me of Ariel's friend in Beth's Awakening--the one with the spiderweb and all in her hair. Right now, my car might suit her tastes rather well!
And on the way back from those errands, just on the last few turns before home, I saw this animal trying to cross the road. It hesitated, looked both ways and up at the approaching van I was behind, waited for it to pass, then scuttled across fast and gracefully. At first I thought it was a cat, but as I got closer for a good look--it was a woodchuck. That made my evening--I'm far too fond of woodchucks!
